Insights into the Genetic Basis of the Renal Cell Carcinomas from The Cancer Genome Atlas.

چکیده
The renal cell carcinomas (RCC), clear cell, papillary, and chromophobe, have recently undergone an unmatched genomic characterization by The Cancer Genome Atlas. This analysis has revealed new insights into each of these malignancies and underscores the unique biology of clear cell, papillary, and chromophobe RCC. Themes that have emerged include distinct mechanisms of metabolic dysregulation and common mutations in chromatin modifier genes. Importantly, the papillary RCC classification encompasses a heterogeneous group of diseases, each with highly distinct genetic and molecular features. In conclusion, this review summarizes RCCs that represent a diverse set of malignancies, each with novel biologic programs that define new paradigms for cancer biology. متن کاملNasopharyngeal Metastasis Originating From Beta-HCG Being Secreting From Transitional Cell Carcinoma of the Renal Pelvis: A Case Report
Introduction: Transitional cell carcinomas (TCC) of the upper urinary tract constitute only 7% of urothelial carcinomas. The majority of upper urinary tract TCC arises from the renal pelvis, followed by the ureter. The majority of the patients are presented with microscopic or macroscopic haematuria, flank pain, or symptoms due to metastasis; however, it can be asymptomatic in 10-15%. Case pre...

متن کاملGenomics of chromophobe renal cell carcinoma: implications from a rare tumor for pan-cancer studies
Chromophobe Renal Cell Carcinoma (ChRCC) is a rare subtype of the renal cell carcinomas, a heterogenous group of cancers arising from the nephron. Recently, The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) profiled this understudied disease using multiple data platforms, including whole exome sequencing, whole genome sequencing (WGS), and mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) sequencing. The insights gained from this study ...
متن کاملThe Prevalence of Human Papilloma Virus in Esopha-geal Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Background: Carcinomas of esophagus, mostly squamous cell carcinomas, occur throughout the world. There are a number of suspected genetic or environmental etiologies. Human papilloma virus (HPV) is said to be a major etiology in areas with high incidence of esophageal carcinoma, while it is hardly detectable in low incidence regions. This study was designed to evaluate the prevalence of HPV in ...
